"The title field should contain only the actual title of your book as it appears on your book cover."
Prohibited in the title field, among others: repeated generic keywords ("notebook", "journal", "gifts", "books"), unauthorized references to other titles, authors or trademarked terms, references to sales rank ("bestselling"), references to advertisements or promotions ("free"), only punctuation, and HTML tags.
"Your title and subtitle together must be fewer than 200 characters." "The subtitle will appear on your book's detail page, and must adhere to the same guidelines as your title."
Two Amazon pages disagree by one character: another KDP page says "200 characters or less". listing_check.py takes the stricter reading: it FAILS above 200 and WARNS at exactly 200. It counts title + ": " + subtitle, the way Amazon joins the two fields on the product page. Because Amazon adds that colon itself, a colon or semicolon typed inside the title field prints twice, so listing_check.py fails it.
